Absolutely! Our company employs both practicing tech professionals and English teachers with zero tech experience. You don’t need to be a coder to bring value to your tech-savvy students. Remember that people in technical jobs need to communicate with non-technical people (managers, customers etc.) all the time and the ability to speak on technical topics using simple and clear language is crucial for a tech professional.
As for you as a teacher, what’s more important is to keep and open mind and be able to teach business communication and soft skills (team communication, cross-cultural communication, giving feedback etc.) We share more details on this topic in our Teacher’s Guide.
